Safe Steps - Family Violence Response Centre
March 2023
Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a statewide entry point for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Most of our work is dedicated to the needs of women and children, which reflects the gendered nature of domestic and family violence. Everything we do is informed by the lived experiences of victim-survivors of family violence. We ensure that their voices are at the heart of all reforms.
Mission
We provide evidence-based responses for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence by creating pathways to safety through collaborative partnerships

A yearly celebration of all mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, colleagues, and leaders. International Women's Day has been celebrated since 1911, and here at Flowers Across Melbourne, we love that we can bring women together with flowers. We created this bouquet to bring joy to the women who make this city, and country great. Send this stunning bouquet of blooms to the woman that inspires you this International Woman's Day!

Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre (formerly the Women’s Domestic Violence Crisis Service) was established in 1979 when a small group of women started a domestic violence phone referral service in a suburban house in Melbourne. From these grassroots beginnings more than 40 years ago, Safe Steps is now firmly established as Victoria’s primary state-wide domestic and family violence crisis response service.
We operate 24/7/365 to provide a specialist response to all victim-survivors of family violence. Safe Steps is the crisis entry point to the wider family violence service system across Victoria.
